Thomas Freeman, age 13, Presque Isle, Maine
Wesley Zeng, age 13, Presque Isle, Maine
Thomas and Wesley are classmates in the gifted and talented program at Presque Isle Middle School. Wesley likes math and listening to music. Thomas enjoys acting and plays the clarinet.
How did you come up with your idea?
Wesley: "We thought of it in class."
Thomas: "Wesley was kind of fooling around, and he was dancing. I saw him dancing, and then I thought of Dance Dance Revolution and the drums aspect of our idea."
How will your idea get kids moving?
Thomas: "Some games are simple and so easy to understand, but yet they’re addicting. So they’re like played a lot. I think that they would become addicted to Dynamic Drums in some weird way and try to beat their high scores or how far they go in the game."
What gets you moving around?
Thomas: "I really like playing soccer in the fall and summer."
Wesley: "I like to dance to anything that has a good beat."
Who inspired your idea?
Thomas: "Mrs. Mahon, she encouraged us to enter Ruckus Nation – and she reminded us when the deadline was like two days away!"
Thomas and Wesley nominated Leslee Mahon, their teacher in the gifted and talented program at Presque Isle Middle School, to receive a $2,500 Ruckus Nation Inspriation Prize.
